World Education Forum
The World Education Forum (WEF) - as a part of the World Social Forum (WSF) - contributes to ‘making a new world possible’ by providing an alternative to the domination, oppression and control of the current world system. The WEF offers an open space for networking, democratic debate, proposal formulation to diverse groups and movements of civil society worldwide. The activities will simultaneously be organized in the West Bank (including Jerusalem and Ramallah as the main venues during the 4 days of the Forum, and other cities such as Nablus, Jenin, Hebron, Bethlehem, Tulkarem, and Jericho on October 30th), Gaza, inside the Green Line and Lebanon. There will also be “expanded activities” in other locations throughout the world, connected to and at the same time of the Forum.
In the current Palestinian social landscape, this Forum also embodies an important opportunity to reflect on the reality and challenges standing in the foreground of Palestinian society. The WEF is a precious occasion for the Palestinian social movement to gain new centrality and momentum in defining its role in the defense of the peoples' rights. Moreover, holding the WEF in Palestine is an affirmation of the global civil society’s collective determination to struggle and to stand up for their rights and freedoms. Participating in the Forum is a concrete act of solidarity with the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle for independence, freedoms, and right of return, against Israeli occupation.
